Becky Atkinson

Environmental and Services Manager, Volvo Car U.S. Operations

Becky joined Volvo Cars in April of 2017 as the environmental lead for Volvo Cars’ first U.S. manufacturing plant in Ridgeville, S.C. She is responsible for the plant’s environmental compliance as well as implementing the company’s corporate objectives such as climate neutral operations, electrification and focus on circular economy.

Becky’s career in environmental work spans over 15 years in the consulting field prior to joining Volvo. She has worked with various industries including chemical, tire, aerospace, oil & gas and pulp and paper specializing in air permitting and regulatory compliance.  Her work with Volvo originated with writing the air permit for Ridgeville’s greenfield site.  She currently oversees the Zero Waste to Landfill program, the onsite solar project pursuant to climate neutral operations by 2025, and fulfilling Volvo’s directive to eliminate single use plastics by the end of 2019 from all canteens and office spaces.

Becky received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Carolina.
