General Manager, CM Shredders

Charlie Astafan serves as the General Manager of CM Shredders based in Sarasota, Florida. Sarasota is home to the company’s manufacturing facility where Charlie oversees the development, sales and manufacturing of the company’s tire recycling equipment. Under Charlie’s 20-year leadership, CM Shredders has grown its global presence to more than 400 installations in 30 countries.

Charlie was one of the founding members of Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries’ (ISRI) Scrap Tire Processors Chapter and has served on ISRI’s Tire Wire Taskforce that developed specifications for tire wire quality. Currently, Charlie serves on ISRI’s Tire Fiber Committee and is assisting in identifying and developing markets for tire fiber.

Charlie serves on the ASTM’s committee for Playground Surface Systems and Sports Equipment, Playing Surfaces and Facilities.

Most recently, Charlie joined the Tire Industry Association’s Environmental Advisory Council.  This council was developed to identify and promote recycled manufactured products and environmentally sustainable practices within the tire and rubber industry.
