Patrick J. Flood, P.E.

Pat Flood is currently the Director of TDEC’s Division of Solid Waste Management, having started in this position in August of 2012.  The Division consists of approximately 140 solid waste professionals located at the Central Office in Nashville and in eight Field Offices throughout the state. 

Pat has worked in the Solid Waste industry since 1991, mainly in the fields of engineering and construction oversight.  Immediately prior to his appointment to TDEC, he was the manager for AECOM’s Oak Ridge, Tennessee office and was also the Solid Waste Practice Area Leader for AECOM’s South Region.  In this role, he managed solid waste design and Construction Quality Assurance efforts throughout the south, and supported projects throughout North America, including the US, Canada, and Mexico.

He received a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1982, a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (specializing in Geotechnical Engineering) from Purdue University in 1986, and received a Master’s in Business Administration from Clemson University in 2001.  He has been a registered engineer in fourteen states and also sits on the Professional Engineers Civil Exam Committee for the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
